Healthy extra B of the week!!!

I have to have breakfast at work during the week & I'm always looking for ideas that are not toast!
So I went through the HEB list & thought ooohhh they look yummy!!

Next issue was tracking them down!! Nothing in Tescos & sainsburys but a friend of mine found them in Asda who currently have them on special offer. 2 for £3. Bargain!!!!

You can cook them in the microwave, just add 125 ml of milk from your HEA allowance & cook for 2 minutes in the microwave. Now I think that it need more milk but everyone likes porridge different ways. Personally I don't like mine too stodgy!!

It tastes nice, I could do with it bring a bit sweeter but you could put some sweeteners into it I suppose.

Overall I'm impressed & will definately buy them again. I feel I'm lasting till lunch time too with out picking at naughty things!!!

Have you tried any Dorset Cereal products??

Not so lazy Sunday

Well I was MIA yesterday and the reason for this? Although the day started well it ended very badly with me consuming a bottle of wine!!! I am blaming my husband for this as it was him who went to the shop & bought it!!!!

But today is a new day and I have made sure that I have made it a good one!!!

Brunch (didn't get up till 11.30am!!!) consisted of yummy poached eggs on toast with some mushrooms cooked in frylight. It was delicious!!!

I then got talked into getting the Wii fit out by my 5 year old son. He probably did me a favour really as I did 30 mins and felt really good at the end of it!! I just did a mixture of step/boxing/running and a couple of muscle exercises but I built up a nice sweat & felt good after.

The lazyness continued until about 3pm when same 5 year old son asked if we could go to the park. So trainers were located and off we went. My local park is perfect for scooters & running which is exactly what we ended up doing!!! Ollie is so fast since he got his new scooter that we had to literally run after him to keep up!!! This turned into a game to see who could win the race which I didn't win once! My arguement was that I was at a disadvantage as Ollie had wheels & my husband has much longer legs than me!!! But it got us all moving and I felt really energised after doing it. We googled the park when we got some & the distance around the park is 1.34 miles so not too bad!!

My afternoon treat when I got in was a cuppa & a Galaxy Ripple :-)  8.5 syns.

I also picked myself up a Daily Mail this afternoon. Only because it came with a little Slimming World book!!! I think I am going to save the contents of it for a whole blog post of it's own as it has a very yummy 7 day plan in it that I think is just screaming to be followed!! So watch this space.

So dinner..........needs to be something quick but yummy & free so I am going to give this a bash.

This is what it looked like. I replaced the olive oil for frylight spray & added mushrooms. I served it with roast new pots. It was yummy!

Have 6.5 syns left so may have a cheeky Tia Maria when I am watching the Skating tonight!!

Hope you have all had a super slimming weekend.

iPhone app review

I remembered today that I have the Slimmingworld iPhone app!!!

It used to be just a taste of Slimmingworld but now you can actually look up syns on there & keep track of your day on there. This is for paying members only but is a really good idea & I will definatley use it more now.

So I will talk about each part of the app in turn

The 1st part is about Slimmingworld. Nothing any member should not already know but this would be used to explain the plan to new or prospective members. I think I would use it to explain to friends what it is all about as it is explained well.

Then you have real life successes. I like this as it makes it more real & you can read them when you are feeling like eating a family size tub of icecream to get you back on the straight & narrow!! I will be reading through these one by one for my inspiration.

Then you have syns on the go!! I like this as you just search & it brings up suggestions. Everything I searched for today was found easily (including the subway I had at lunch time!!!)

This is what mine looks like today

The app has many other features. Recipe & meal planning suggestions. These are useful if you are in a rut & stuck for ideas but totally impracticable when it comes to doing a weekly shop!

Do you have a iPhone? Do you have the app? What do you think??

Thursday 5th Jan - Why a food diary is a must for me!

Thursday! My day started off so well. 1st day back at work and doing the school run for 2 kids at 2 schools.

Usually I am running around in the morning stuffing bags of crisps & bananas into my handbag and shoving kids out of the door but I decided that one of my new years resolutions would be that I would get more organised. Especially when it comes to food! So I lovingly made a lovely packed lunch full of SlimmingWorld friendly food. Guess where I left it???? Yep.....at home!!!

I really wanted to have a spend free day (Are you as skint as me this month!!) so I was really upset that I had to spend money!!!!!!

I am very lucky to have a workplace canteen which does a varied cooked breakfast so I had a poached egg, baked beans & a slice of wholemeal toast. Sorted all for the cost of a HeB!
I washed this down with a skinny latte.

Lunch was a lovely baked potato with baked beans - lots of super speed food for me!!!!

This was followed by a banana :-)

In my aim to be super organised this year I bought myself a little notebook & I am using it as my food diary for the year. I find that I will be 'good' if I write my food down so this really helps me to keep on track. I also need to start highlighting my fruit & veg to make sure I am eating my 5 a day. While I am at it I should start recording how much water I am drinking but lets do one thing at a time eh!!!!

I am still struggling from the trauma of being at work after christmas so I really couldn't be doing with standing in the kitchen cooking (especially as the bulb has gone!!!) so I found something that looked quick, easy & Extra Easy!!!!

I must admit, it took no time to make & was actually really tasty!! I will be keeping this recipe in the archives  for lazy days again!

Pudding will most probably involve a Muller light & some fruit while watching Celeb BB!!!

So my question to you is where, other than SW website do you get your recipe ideas from?

Thanks for reading

Wednesday -weigh in day!!!!

So today is weigh in day!!! I have been dreading this as I eat & drank copious amounts over Christmas and really have been expecting major gains!!!

So breakfast has consisted of 1 slice of toast (HEB), Baked beans, big mushroom and a poached egg. It was yummy!!!! I washed it down with a skinny Latte :-)

Then lunch was left overs from the pasta I cooked last night. Yummy cold!
Some blueberries & some grapes.

I had a mid afternoon snack wobble so had a bag of quavers as I thought that would be the least syn full from the vending machine! (Why do they put these things in offices anyway!!!!)

As it was weigh in day I try not to eat or drink anything from when I get home to when I go to weigh in so U was starving by the time I got home!!!

So brings me to the dreaded weigh in!!! I am so happy as although I have missed 2 groups I managed to only put on 1.5lbs!! How I will never know! I really believe that being back on plan for 3 days has really helped. If I had been weighed in on Monday we may be having a slightly different blog post today!

So I have promised that I will loose 2 lbs. I am very nearly at my 1st stone award & I would really love to get it.

A lady at my group is running the marathon for Asthma UK and she is going to bring in some running sheets for us all next week so I may give that a bash! Watch this space.

We were also given our new packs this week. So happy that porridge has gone up to 35g!!! Small things make me really happy.

So todays post has not been very informative & it has had no pictures. I think with being out to group tonight this has eaten into my evening so next week I will have to plan better!!!

I am feeling very positive about SW since Christmas, I am loving my group & I am loving the fact that I can buy a smaller size clothes and I don't want to go back!!!!

Have you had your 1st weigh in since Christmas? How did it go?

Please feel free to follow, make all my typing worth the while :-)

Nite all.

Tuesday 3rd Jan - a day of cooking!!!

Well! I am back!
I started back at Slimming world about 3 months ago as I wanted to loose about a stone & I have very nearly done it, that was until Christmas!!!
Weigh in tomorrow night & I am dreading it! I am guessing it will be about 4-5lbs on but hey ho, I will just get on with loosing the weight as I was so proud of my achievements till then!
I am planning on using this as a bit of a food diary & a place to share & record dinners so I remember them!!!
So today has been a day at home as smallest is still off school.
Today's food diary has gone something like this -
Breakfast - Poached Eggs on Toast. Yum!! There is something so simple & satisfying about poached eggs on toast. I love it! So this consisted of a HEB & I am counting 3 syns for Flora Light & ketchup :-)
Mid Morning snack - 3 celebrations chocolates! They were staring at me!!= 6 syns!! oops!
Lunch - Roasted tomato & Basil soup from the little book of soups.
I have made a new years resolution to cook more. I love cooking & find it relaxes me but got stuck in a rut a bit at the end of last year so am promising myself I will try more recipies. I also have a challenge going on with my mother-in-law & her mate to get cooking more new recipies! So here goes.
I got my ingrediants all ready!!

900g Ripe tomatoes
Low cal cooking spray
1 tsp dried oregano
1 Large Onion - Chopped
2 Garlic cloves - crushed
1 litre of hot veg stock
Salt & ground pepper
2 tbsp chopped basil

Arrange the tomatoes on a baking tray & spray with the oil. Sprinkle with the oregano & cook in oven at 200degrees/Gas 6 for about 10-15 mins.

Meanwhile place the onion & the garlic in a heavy based saucepan with 300ml of the stock. Cover the pan, bring to the boil and simmer for 10 mins.

Peel & chop the roast tomatoes and add to the cooked chopped onion mix in the pan along with the remaining stock. Simmer for 15-20 mins.

Puree the soup in a blender or food processor. Return to the pan, season well and add the basil.

The only think I would say about this soup is I would use less liquid if I cooked it again. It is a very runny soup. Tasted lovely but runny.
But I have 3 tubs of it in the fridge so will be eating it for a couple of days!!!

So back to the diary - I had this with a roll which was to be my 2nd HEB of the day.

So the day had turned into a green day as I had had 2 HEB's so dinner then had to be low syn or green!!!

I had some Sainsburys low fat sausages in the fridge and fancied them so I found this recipe.

 http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/6662/quick-sausage-bolognese

I adapted it slightly by adding a chopped onion & using oregano rather than fennel.
I also added sweetcorn & peas at the end.

Verdict from the family was yummy!!!
The sausages (Be good to your self) are only 0.5 syns each so I am allowing 1.5 syns for dinner.

So we ended the day on 10.5 syns which is not too bad!
Not as much fruit & veg as I should have had though so will try better with that tomorrow.

So, day 1 of blogging.
Weigh in tomorrow!!!!

Hope you enjoyed reading & I get lots of followers to keep me on the straight & narrow!!

Tuesday 17 August 2010

17th August - green

For breakfast this morning I had a yummy bacon & egg sandwich! Using both my HEB's but it was so worth it!!!!

Lunch was a pasta quiche for which I'll post recipe for separate.

I then treated myself to a cappuccino using milk from my HEA choice and a curly wurly! It was yummy.

Now I need to get some fruit or veg inside me!!!!!

Dinner was pasta with a fresh pasta sauce mixed through. I then grated mozzarella over & popped under the grill. It was yummy!

Followed by a activa fat free yogurt & some blackberries.

So didn't do too well on the 5 fruit & veg today!!!!
